Wegener and Hutton were major pioneers in earth science. Wegener proposed continental drift/plate tectonics and Hutton proposed rocks took millions of years to form. They both countered current thinking at the time, and both suffered death and/or great pains to try to prove their theories. How do you feel about that? Would you go to such great lengths to prove something to other people?
i think it was a just cause because it helped the scientific community greatly. i would go to such lengths only if it made a great impact like the ones they did.
ReplyDeletei feel like they did a great job at making those discoveries and i think its good that they did so. i would not go to such great lengths for science just because i dont really care...
ReplyDeleteI'm glad they went through all that work to figure it out because now i get the chance to learn about it

I really would go through all that if it was important enough. im amazed at peoples perspectives and how far they go to achieve the sense of accomplishment.
ReplyDelete...i used a lot of big words...
I think it was important that they followed what they belived in even if they did die.
ReplyDeleteI would go through with it for sure! You need to show people the truth and what is actually right then what they think because no one has the guts to try and prove it.. But he had great courage and gut to that.. its a shame he died..
ReplyDeleteI think you should go to great lengths to prove your point but maybe not death.

If these experiments were not discovered, kids like us, would not know anything about Earth itself and how it was created. There definitely could of been more research but for right now, we know the basics and that's good enough.
ReplyDeleteIf the thing that I was trying to prove effected them in a major way, then yes, I would go great lengths to prove it. Although death I never consider as an option.
ReplyDeleteIf I know it is true but no one believed me I wouldn't go to great lengths to prove it because people will believe what they want to believe. It wouldn't matter if I were to be in pain or even die. They either believe or they don't.
ReplyDeletei wouldn't go great lengths to prove something, or die for...not many people believe in the same way as other people, duh... there are other people to take those chances.
ReplyDeleteI would go that far to prove something that I believe is true and important.
ReplyDeletei feel that they did a great job and i would also go through great lengths to try to prove my point.
ReplyDeletei would not go that far to prove anything
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't go through that if it was a life or death situation.
ReplyDeleteIf i felt that the fact needed to be proven and heard then possibly. I Don't think I would if it meant death though.
ReplyDeleteI do not think that I would go to the death to prove a point. I do not have the best patience in the world so i think having the whole entire world against a theory that you know is true. It is good that the people who did risk there lives, are amazing people because with out them the world would not be what it is today.
ReplyDeleteif i was trying to prove something even if it means i have to go till death i would do it

yeah, I would go through any obstacle to prove my point, cause when I set my mind on something, you better best believe that I'm going to finish what I started and if I die in the process, then so be it, at least I died fighting for my beliefs. I'm just sad they never saw their victory .
ReplyDeletei wouldnt go to the death (THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IM WRITEING THIS). (insert reasoning about gallileo)

I might die to prove something. If it was really important and was a great discovery than I would. I want to be remembered as a person that changed the world.
ReplyDeleteI would bug them all day
ReplyDeleteI think i would go that far to prove myself, even if no one believes me,I would always know that i was right.
ReplyDeleteThese guys were very smart to find that out
ReplyDeletei don't think i would. dieing over something i believe in is pointless. i don't really care if people believe me or not. if they believe me than they do. its their choice. Im not going to try to make someone believe something, especially its worth my life.
ReplyDeletethe test was hard
ReplyDeletei think that it wasn't worth dying for and i wouldn't risk my life.
ReplyDeletei would do that
ReplyDeleteI wouldnt go that far to prove something because i dont really care that much about anything
ReplyDeleteYes, i would go such great lengths to prove something because i would want to prove them wrong
ReplyDeletei would go thruogh with it because if you really blieve in something that much and people dont believe you i would try my hardest to find evedince and to prove to people. but i probly wouldnt go as far as dieing for something i think because its not that important
ReplyDeletei don't feel that strongly about anything, so i don't think i would go that far to prove something
ReplyDeletethey go to such great lengths because they want to prove they point about something
ReplyDeleteI think it sends a good message about following what you believe in but I dont think I would do it if it was for life or death.
ReplyDeleteI think they did a great job proveing their point, but i don't think i would go to such lengths to try and prove something.
ReplyDeleteWhat should we be doing to remain successful in this class?
ReplyDeletei think these guys had the most guts than anyone to prove something that was going against the Church at the time
ReplyDeleteI think that they were right to want to protect their ideas but I don't think dying is the right way to do it.
ReplyDeleteI am really glad they went to great lengths to prove their theories because we would have never known how old are planet was. I would never go to those lengths but I'm glad they did.
